Maintaining power

A device that keeps the train running while a fusee or spring clock is being wound.

Explanation

Without maintaining power, winding a fusee watch or a weight clock briefly removes driving force, stopping or disturbing the escapement. Harrison-type and Massey maintaining power are the common clock forms.
