Housing and Exterior
The marine chronometer is contained in a three-tier teak wood box. This wooden structure serves as the primary external housing, featuring a glazed top section that permits viewing of the instrument while the box is closed. The lid is hinged, and the case is fitted with steel handles for transport.
Mounted within this box is the brushed steel bowl. This bowl supports the main chronometer assembly and incorporates a screwed-down bezel. The instrument is gimbaled, allowing it to maintain its position relative to the horizon regardless of the motion of a vessel.
