Bezel
The ring holding the crystal in place, sometimes hinged and sometimes fixed or screwed.
Explanation
The bezel is the ring holding the crystal (or the front cover of a hunter case) to the case. On pocket watches it may snap, screw or hinge on; on wristwatches it may be fixed, rotating (divers' bezels) or decorative. Ill-fitting or replaced bezels admit dust and are a common originality issue.
