Bezel

The ring holding the crystal in place, sometimes hinged and sometimes fixed or screwed.

Explanation

A mismatched or replacement bezel, detectable by fit, finish or hallmark discontinuity, is a common sign of case alteration or a marriage between mismatched parts.
