Potence

A bracket-shaped bridge, usually beneath the dial, carrying the lower pivot of the escape wheel or verge.

Explanation

Common in verge watches and many clock movements, the potence combines a foot and an arm ending in a pivot hole, distinct from a cock, which is generally screwed flat to a plate rather than standing proud on a foot.
