Power cell (battery)

The small electrochemical cell supplying current to a quartz or early electric movement.

Explanation

Silver-oxide cells are standard in modern quartz watches; earlier electric and electromechanical watches of the 1950s–60s used mercury or, later, alkaline cells with different voltage and longevity characteristics.
