Double-sunk dial

An enamel dial with the chapter ring and sub-seconds recessed at different depths from the main surface.

Explanation

A more expensive and delicate construction than a single flat enamel dial, double-sunk dials are more prone to breakage during service and are correspondingly valued when found intact.
