Dust cover
Any inner cover, of metal or later of celluloid or plastic, protecting the movement from dust ingress.
Explanation
A dust cover (cuvette or dome) is an inner hinged or snap-on cover protecting a pocket watch movement under the outer case back. Many are engraved with the maker's name, presentation inscriptions or repairers' marks. Repairers' scratch marks inside covers record past services and can help date a watch's history; they should be left untouched.
