Temperature compensation

Design features that reduce rate variation caused by thermal expansion and elastic modulus change.

Explanation

Bimetallic compensation balances address the problem mechanically; alloy hairsprings such as Elinvar and Nivarox address it at the material level and eventually made compensation balances largely unnecessary.
