Seconds bit

The small pivot or pinion carrying the seconds hand, typically on the fourth wheel.

Explanation

Where a sub-seconds display is fitted, the seconds bit projects through the dial at the sub-seconds location; its fit and squareness affect how cleanly the seconds hand tracks without wobble.
