Lever notch

The slot in a lever escapement's fork that engages the roller's impulse pin.

Explanation

The notch, together with the horns either side, receives the impulse pin as it enters and leaves, transmitting impulse and unlocking the pallets. Its width and the safety roller/guard pin geometry together prevent the fork from setting or over-banking.
