Index assembly

The index assembly is the pivoting arm carrying the regulator pins that embrace the hairspring, moved to adjust the rate. Its pins must be upright, close but not tight on the spring, and the assembly must hold its position against vibration — hence fine-adjustment devices such as the swan neck on better movements.
