Isochronism

The property of keeping the same rate regardless of amplitude or state of wind.

Explanation

Achieved through hairspring geometry, terminal curves, escapement efficiency and — historically — the fusee. Positional and isochronal adjustment together define an 'adjusted' movement in American railroad grading.
