Gathering pallet

A star-shaped or finger cam that advances a rack one tooth at a time in a striking train.

Explanation

In rack striking clocks and repeaters, the gathering pallet turns once per blow, its finger picking up successive rack teeth to return the rack after each hour or quarter is struck, resetting the mechanism for the next operation.
