Construction and Design
The clock is styled as an industrial tower base, characterized by a substantial lower section supported by four tapered angled feet. The architecture incorporates a combination of silvered brass and marble, specifically utilizing an onyx plinth as a foundational element for the upper components. This aesthetic is reinforced by four cylindrical silvered pillars that rise to support a four-arm bridge featuring five ball finials.
Mounted upon the rectangular frame above the plinth are the timekeeping and scientific instruments. The clock and barometer are each enclosed within turned onyx frames, demonstrating a design integration that utilizes the stone elements as both structural support and housing. A large brass toupie-form screw nut serves as the prominent crowning detail of the tower-like assembly.
