Re-cased

A movement housed in a case other than the one it left the factory in.

Explanation

Re-casing was ordinary trade practice in periods when movements and cases were sold separately, so it is not automatically a fault — but it does break the link between case and movement numbers, and it must be disclosed. Look for mismatched sizes, fresh screw marks, and dial feet cut or added.
