Hybrid integrated circuit

A circuit assembly combining circuit elements on a common substrate.

Explanation

The Smithsonian describes the Astron’s hybrid circuit as intermediate between discrete circuits and integrated circuits. Its exact preserved watch contains an original module with an 8,192-cycle-per-second quartz oscillator and a miniature stepping motor, but a reproduction exterior. This is a sourced example, not the construction of every quartz watch. Keep circuit architecture separate from oscillator frequency and display form; a quartz watch may show time with hands rather than digits.
