Click
A spring-loaded pawl that engages a ratchet wheel to permit rotation in one direction only.
Explanation
The click is the spring-loaded pawl that engages the ratchet wheel, letting the mainspring be wound while preventing it from unwinding back through the winding work. A broken click, click spring or click screw makes winding spin freely — one of the commonest repairs in both watches and clocks.
