Click spring

The small leaf spring that presses a click into engagement with its ratchet wheel.

Explanation

A weakened or broken click spring lets the click bounce free of the ratchet teeth, allowing the mainspring to run back suddenly — felt as a sharp jolt through the crown — and is a routine service replacement.
