Warning wheel
A wheel in a clock's striking train that pauses just before the hour to synchronise the strike.
Explanation
The warning wheel is the last, fastest wheel of a clock's striking train. At warning — the few minutes before the hour — the train is released but held by the warning piece against this wheel until the exact hour, when it runs free and the strike begins. Its pin also stops the train between blows via the count or rack system.
