Repeater
A striking mechanism that sounds the time on demand.
Explanation
A repeater is a watch that strikes the time on gongs or bells when a slide or push-piece is operated. Quarter repeaters strike hours and quarters; five-minute and half-quarter repeaters strike finer divisions. Before bright artificial light, repeaters told the time in the dark; today they are valued as among the most difficult complications to make and adjust.
