Karrusel

A rotating-carriage escapement mounting related to the tourbillon, developed as a cheaper alternative.

Explanation

Patented by Bahne Bonniksen in the 1890s, the karrusel rotates more slowly than a typical tourbillon and was aimed at improving positional timekeeping in ordinary trade-grade watches rather than at haute-horlogerie display.
