Jumping hour

A display in which the hour indication changes instantaneously at the top of the hour rather than creeping.

Explanation

Usually shown through an aperture via a numbered disc, driven by a snap-action jumper mechanism that stores energy and releases it suddenly at the sixty-minute mark.
