Gyromax balance
A free-sprung balance wheel with adjustable weights on its rim for fine poising and rate correction.
Explanation
The Gyromax is Patek Philippe's free-sprung balance, patented in the 1950s, carrying small rotatable weights recessed in the rim. Turning the weights adjusts the rate without a regulator index, preserving the hairspring's free breathing. Variants of the idea appear in other makers' free-sprung balances.
