Poise (static poising)

Poise is the static balance of the balance wheel: with the hairspring removed, a poised balance rests in any position without a heavy point pulling it round. Poising is checked on a poising tool and corrected by removing or adding weight at the rim. A watch out of poise shows large positional errors, especially vertical ones.
