Banking

The limiting of an escapement's angular travel by fixed stops.

Explanation

In a lever escapement, banking pins limit the fork's swing so the pallets neither over-bank into the escape wheel nor lock too shallow. Correct banking is checked as part of run-to-banking and is central to lever notch geometry.
