Banking pins

Two pins limiting the swing of the pallet fork to its correct engagement range.

Explanation

Banking pins are the two small pins that limit the travel of the pallet fork in a lever escapement. If they are too wide the escapement loses efficiency; if too narrow or bent, the fork can jump across and the watch sets or stops. Adjustable banking appears on some fine movements; most are fixed and should not be bent casually.
