Adjuster (watch adjuster)

A skilled worker responsible for regulating a movement's rate across positions and temperatures.

Explanation

The adjuster was the specialist who regulated a finished movement — poising the balance, timing in positions and temperatures, and bringing the watch to its rated standard. In high-grade American factories and Swiss chronometer production, adjusters were among the most skilled and best-paid workers. 'Adjusted to positions' on a plate certifies that this work was done.
