Clocks, home furnishings, grandfather clocks, and curio cabinets

History

The company was founded in 1926 as the Herman Miller Clock Company, a division of the Herman Miller office furniture manufacturer.

It was spun off and renamed in 1937 under the leadership of Howard C. Miller, the son of co-founder Herman Miller. The company initially produced mantel clocks before expanding its product line to include grandfather clocks in the 1960s and curio cabinets in 1989. Throughout its history, the firm acquired several businesses, including Hekman Furniture, Alexis Manufacturing, Woodmark Upholstery, the clock movement manufacturer Kieninger, and Ridgeway Clocks.

Following a brief period of planned closure in 2025, the company was acquired by the Huizenga Group on May 7, 2026.
