Structure and Design
The Howard Miller Hourglass IV (model 615170) is a floor clock constructed from a tubular metal frame finished in aged bronze. The frame is accented with dark aged bronze elements located at the head, the base, and the hourglass assembly. The overall design occupies a vertical footprint of 74 inches in height, 18.5 inches in width, and 14.5 inches in depth.
A prominent feature of the clock is the 28-inch tall hourglass, which sits in the middle of the structural frame. This sand timer, designed to measure approximately one hour, can be manually rotated and adjusted using an integrated handwheel. The base of the unit includes a metal shelf suitable for the placement of objects, and the unit is stabilized by four adjustable floor levelers.
