Deadbeat (true beat) seconds

A seconds display that jumps once per second rather than sweeping continuously.

Explanation

Achieved mechanically by an auxiliary gear train with a jumper and star wheel driven off the normal balance-regulated train, giving the visual impression of a quartz-style tick while remaining fully mechanical.
