Cap stone (end stone)

A flat jewel closing the end of a pivot hole, against which the pivot tip bears.

Explanation

Reduces friction and end-shake at high-wear pivots such as the balance staff and escape-wheel arbor; often paired with a hole jewel in the same setting.
