Over-polished
A case that has been buffed heavily enough to round its edges, blur hallmarks or remove engine turning.
Explanation
An over-polished case has been buffed so heavily that edges are rounded, hallmarks thinned and engraving blurred. Polishing removes metal irreversibly, so it is one of the most damaging things done to collectible watches. Signs include soft lug edges, washed-out engine turning and hallmarks that look faint or partially erased.
