Fob

A short ribbon or chain, or the ornament hung from it, carrying a watch in the pocket.

Explanation

Fobs carried seals, keys and medallions as well as watches, and fob watches are generally smaller and worn hanging rather than in a waistcoat pocket. Presentation fobs sometimes carry inscriptions that are the only documentation a watch retains.
