Cloisonné enamel

An enamelling technique using thin applied wires to separate colour fields before firing.

Explanation

Associated particularly with Geneva enamel work of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, cloisonné was used for portrait miniatures and decorative case panels on export watches.
