Design and Navigational Features
The wristwatch follows the navigational layout of the 1931 Longines hour-angle timepiece, designed to facilitate longitude determination using a sextant and radio signals. The dial displays primary Roman numerals for the hours and a central rotating auxiliary disc, which allows the wearer to synchronize the time with official radio-transmitted time signals. The markings include a 180-degree scale, reflecting the original aeronautical requirements established during the early aviation era.
To ensure utility under operational conditions, the watch incorporates a distinctively shaped onion crown and a wide, knurled rotating bezel, intended for adjustment even while wearing flight gloves. The dial retains the characteristic 180-degree layout on the fixed portion, while the central rotating section provides secondary time-keeping coordination.
