Historical significance

- Central analog display for hours/minutes/seconds and a date window. The case back is glassed, revealing the Seiko 7M22B auto-quartz movement.
- The Seiko AGS (Automatic Generating System), introduced in Germany in January 1988, was the world’s first quartz watch equipped with an automatic energy-generating system.
- An ultra-compact generator was integrated so that the AGS required no battery replacements.
- Launched at a time when global environmental issues were at the forefront of public concern, the AGS was presented as a revolutionary watch that would usher in a new era of quartz timepieces.
