Historical significance

  • Designed by the artist just before his death, the “Andy Warhol Times/5” comprises five black metal cases, each containing a quartz movement. Each of the five dials is a different silkscreen picture of New York City chosen by the artist.
  • Commercial production was limited to two hundred and fifty pieces. The watch presented here is the third piece from a non-commercial series produced for museums and private collections.
  • This watch clearly illustrates the interest of Pop Art's leading exponent in photographs of places whose sheer banality made them special. Andy Warhol was also an enthusiastic collector of wristwatches.
