Wall clock with striking mechanism and alarm

The corners of the case, which rests on four feet, are accentuated by iron pillars and, in the upper part, by vase-shaped finials. The bell is surmounted by the figure of a nude woman. On the back, there is a ring to hang the clock and two spikes to stabilise it.

Historical significance

  • The dial and lateral sides are symmetrically engraved with scrolls and volutes, standing out on a streaked ground. The corners of the case, which rests on four feet, are accentuated by iron pillars and, in the upper part, by vase-shaped finials. The bell is surmounted by the figure of a nude woman. On the back, there is a ring to hang the clock and two spikes to stabilise it.
  • The silver chapter ring has Roman numerals. A mobile disc in the centre has a pointer to indicate the alarm-release time.
  • The weight-driven movement has a verge escapement and an annular brass balance.
