Historical significance

  • Wooden case with Vernis Martin lacquer, painted with polychrome floral motifs and decorated with chased and gilded bronze mounts (door mount in the Louis XVI style). The top is decorated with bronze flowers. Matching console.
  • White enamel dial in the form of a shallow bowl, painted with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. Hands in pierced, engraved and gilded brass; the minute hand with an asymmetrical design.
  • Movement with three wheel trains, verge escapement, thread suspension and an eight-day power reserve. Hour and quarter-hour striking controlled by a locking plate.
