Historical significance

  • Movement later fitted to the case, with verge escapement and fusee and chain. Upper plate decorated with a garland of scrollwork.
  • Gilt-brass case fitted with a bell. Pierced cover with twelve apertures allowing the time to be read when closed. When opened, twelve pins allow a tactile reading of the time.
  • Gilt-brass dial. One blued steel hand.
