Historical significance

  • The circumference of the silver case is engraved and pierced with scrolls interspersed with animals and leaves. The outer case is made of polished silver.
  • A fleur-de-lis hand on the engraved silver alarm dial in the centre indicates the hours, engraved in Roman numerals on an exterior hour circle.
  • The alarm movement has a verge escapement and a going barrel without a fusee. Both the pawl and its blued steel spring are finely pierced. The small balance cock, engraved and pierced with scrolls, covers the balance and its spring.
