Historical significance

Beyond its refined complications — a perpetual calendar and a minute repeater — lie two enamel miniatures created by Suzanne Rohr and Carlo Poluzzi, undisputed masters of this art in the 20th century. One bears the signature “Rohr/Poluzzi,” the other “Poluzzi/Rohr”: symbols of a passing of the torch between generations, these signatures embody the esteem and recognition the master bestowed upon his pupil.
• The scene on the front, inspired by a painting by Pierre Van Muyden displayed at the Musée d’art et d’histoire de Genève, reveals the full pictorial sensitivity of Suzanne Rohr. On the reverse, children harvesting beneath a misty sky illustrate, with equal finesse, her luminous approach to color.
