Historical significance

  • Ultra-thin Engraved gold hunter-case pocket watch. Inscriptions : “ECHAPPEMENT A CYLINDRE HUIT TROUS EN RUBIS” (dust cover / cuvette) No. 1488 (movement), 1850–1870.
  • Movement thickness: 1.18 mm; overall thickness with the case closed: 2.6 mm.
  • The back of the case is decorated with leaves surrounding a bouquet of flowers, while the cover is decorated with branches forming arabesques.
  • The eccentric white enamel dial with Roman numerals has two Breguet hands. The silvered brass dial plate is engraved with flowers and leaves.
  • The ultra-thin “Bagnolet” movement has a cylinder escapement with the balance wheel positioned between the plates, with the dial placed on the train side, and an engraved back plate. Winding, time-setting and adjustment of the regulator index are performed from the back by means of a ratchet key fitted with a male square.
