Historical significance

  • The case back features an enamelled medallion on an engine-turned ground, painted with a trophy of musical instruments. Like the cover, the case-back is decorated with champlevé enamel around its circumference and a ring of enamel painted flowers.
  • The white enamel dial has two hour chapter rings painted with Turkish numerals; the inner ring is visible through the opening in the cover.
  • The gilded brass movement has a fusee with chain, a verge escapement, and a gilded brass balance cock pierced and engraved with symmetrical scrolls. The silver regulating-rosette is engraved with Turkish numerals.
