Historical significance
- The gilded brass case is fashioned in the form of a Latin cross. Multicoloured pierced silver enamelled flowers and scrolls are applied on the back, sides and cover of the case. The dial is protected by a faceted rock crystal glass.
- The two engravings on the gilded brass dial plate depict the Instruments of the Passion and a Christ Triumphant over Death. The dial itself is made of silver and features an engraved landscape at the centre. A blued steel hand indicates the hours in Roman numerals.
- The cruciform movement with its rounded ends originally had a fusee with gut line, but the latter was replaced later by a small steel chain. The verge escapement is regulated by an annular balance without a balance spring. The balance cock and click, both in gilded brass, are engraved and pierced with scrolls and strawberry flowers.
