Historical significance
The default base calibre for thin hand-wound watches in the later twentieth century, and a standard teaching movement.
Introduced in 1971 by the Fabrique d’ebauches de Peseux, the 7001 is a mechanical hand-wound calibre with a height of 2.5mm. Following the acquisition of Peseux by ETA in 1985, the movement continued to be produced and became a widely adopted base for various watchmakers. The movement was adopted for use in timepieces from brands like Nomos, Omega, and Baume & Mercier.
